Interests & Hobbies

 

Besides sports and geology I like travelling, learning foreign languages and improving my computer skills.

In school I was given the opportunity to learn English, French, Spanish intensely and to a lesser extent Italian. Now I‘m trying Russian– a difficult language in my opinion, but since I am frequently travelling in Russia it is a good experience to learn basic Russian and more.

Eastern Europe and Russia — I am generally interested in eastern European countries, their culture, landscape, geology, … . My first trip to the former USSR was in June 2009. With my best mate from swimming times I went to Kiev, Ukraine, to learn more about the Slavic culture. We spend there one week and I was absolutely amazed by this country. Following trips have taken place to Poland, Czech Republic and Russia (Volga Region). This year I plan various trips to the Volga region and hopefully the Urals (Orsk area). For 2011 or 2012 a trip to Sakha Yakutia is planned (...South Yakutian coal basin…).

Moreover I am also interested in various computer applications, such as Graphics Suites, programming languages (C, HTML), ArcGIS and Seismic Interpretation Software.
