About me

Benedikt M. Steiner was born on 20th May 1986 in Göppingen, South Germany. In the following years he grew up in Schwäbisch Gmünd-Straßdorf.

In Schwäbisch Gmünd he became an active and competitve swimmer in the local swimming club.

In 2003, Benedikt changed school and went to Stuttgart to obtain his Abitur in 2005 at “Evangelisches Mörike-Gymnasium Stuttgart“. During this time, he continued swimming and was admitted in the long-distance swimming squad of Baden-Württemberg. Benedikt also took part in the national swimming championships. Since 2003 Benedikt has  been employed as an assistant swimming coach, umpire and life guard at his swimming club TSV Neustadt.

In 2005 he began to study Geology at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. After receiving his “Vordiplom“ in 2007, Benedikt continued his studies at Imperial College, London where he graduated with a MSci in Geology (majors: Applied Sedimentology and Exploration Geology) in 2009.

Benedikt is a member of the Imperial College BUSA Swimming team and supports Imperial College in the BUSA (British University Sports Association) championships since 2007.
